Privacy Policy

1. The short version
- No accounts. You don't give us your name, email or anything else to use Quill.
- Photos you draw from go to our server to build the lesson. We don't keep them.
- Your drawings, progress and settings stay on your phone.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell data.
- Photos are never sent to AI companies. Our own software builds every lesson.
2. Who we are
Quill: Learn to Draw is made by Draw With Quill, based in Spain. We are the data controller for the data described here. Contact: hello@drawwithquill.com.
3. What we collect and why
Photos you choose to draw
When you pick or take a photo, the app sends it over an encrypted connection to our server, which turns it into a drawing lesson and sends the lesson back. The photo is processed in memory and is not saved on our server. We use it for nothing else: not for training, not for ads, not shared. Why: it's how Quill makes your lesson (the service you asked for).
Photos of finished drawings (optional)
If you ask Quill for feedback on a finished drawing, the app sends a photo of it to our server, which compares it with the lesson and sends the result back. Same rule: processed in memory, not saved. Why: to give you the feedback you asked for.
An anonymous install ID, your time zone and daily counts
The app creates a random ID when it's installed. It sends that ID and your device's time zone with each lesson request, and our server counts how many new lessons that install started today. Why: to run the free limit of 2 new photo drawings a day and to stop abuse (our legitimate interest in keeping Quill free and working). The ID is random and isn't linked to your name, email or device identifiers.
IP address
Like any server, ours sees your IP address when the app connects. We keep it in memory for a few minutes to limit abuse, and we don't store it.
Things that stay on your phone
Your drawings, lesson progress, favorite subjects, skill level, paper size and other settings are stored only on your device. We never receive them.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we get your address and message and use them only to reply.
4. What we don't collect
No accounts or logins. No name, email, phone number, age or location. No contacts, microphone recordings or advertising IDs. No analytics, crash reporting or advertising tools in the app. No ads.
5. Who else handles data
We never sell or rent personal data. These companies run parts of Quill for us and handle data only on our instructions:
- Railway hosts the server that builds lessons and gives feedback.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and forwards email sent to hello@drawwithquill.com.
- Google (Gmail) is the inbox those emails are forwarded to.
No AI provider. Lessons and feedback are made by our own software on our own server. Your photos are not sent to OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic or any other AI company. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first.
Railway, Cloudflare and Google may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
6. How long we keep it
- Photos and drawing photos: not kept. They're gone once your lesson or feedback is sent back.
- IP addresses: a few minutes, in memory only.
- Install ID, time zone and daily counts: for as long as they're needed to run the daily limit, and deleted when you ask.
- Emails to us: as long as needed to help you.
- Everything on your phone: until you delete it or the app.
7. Deleting your data
Quill has no accounts, so there's no account to delete.
- On your phone: delete a drawing in the app, or uninstall Quill to remove everything.
- On our server: photos are never stored. To have your install ID and daily counts deleted, email hello@drawwithquill.com with the subject "Delete my data". We'll reply within 30 days.
8. Age requirement
Quill is for people aged 13 and over. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you're under the age of digital consent in your country (14 in Spain), please use Quill with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you think a child under 13 has sent us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Your rights (GDPR)
If you're in the EU or UK, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and get a copy of it. Email hello@drawwithquill.com and we'll answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In Spain that's the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
10. Security
The app and this website only talk over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Photos are processed in memory and never written to disk. Access to our servers is limited to the people who run Quill.
11. This website
drawwithquill.com sets no cookies and uses no analytics or trackers, so there's no cookie banner. Our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
12. Changes
If we change how Quill uses data, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top before the change happens.
